Fun. Fit. Social.
Walking Rugby is a sport for everyone. It doesn't matter if you're male or female, 18 or 80, a novice or a seasoned player, or if you’re looking to improve your fitness level. Walking Rugby is a game that welcomes all.
Walking Rugby at Croydon Wanderers RFC is not just about the game. It's about having fun, staying fit, and most importantly, being part of a vibrant social community.
What is Walking Rugby?
Walking Rugby is a form of touch rugby. There’s no impact contact, so there is no problem of mixing people of all abilities.
Who can play Walking Rugby?
Many people who excel at Walking Rugby are either beginners or have come to the game late. Walking Rugby is designed to allow those who are less fit or less mobile to still be able to play team sports, but at the same time play in groups with those who are.
Who are The Wandering Peacocks?
The Wandering Peacocks is the Croydon Wanderers RFC Walking Rugby Team. We are part of a group of three clubs that play and socialise together—Old Whitgiftians ‘The Gifted Peacocks’, Warlingham ‘The Warly Eyed Peacocks’, and our team, Croydon Wanderers ‘The Wandering Peacocks’.
When and where can I play Walking Rugby?
The Wandering Peacocks play every Wednesday evening from 7.30 pm at our grounds based in the Croydon area on the Surrey-Kent border. We kick off at 7.30 pm, then chill in the bar from 8.30 pm.
The Gifted Peacocks and Warly Eyed Peacocks play on Saturday mornings from 11 am, alternating between those two clubs.
