RECRUITMENT
RECRUITMENT
The February Club Newsletter included a section on Recruitment. I have the honour of coordinating efforts in this area of club business. I cannot stress enough, for the recruitment campaign to be truly effective it requires the active support of the membership. Every member of the club should take each opportunity offered to sell the club and its benefits. I am not suggesting that one becomes a rugby bore, but presumably as members you enjoy your time at CRFC so why not share it with others less fortunate than yourselves?
BRING A PLAYER
The idea behind this scheme is simple. If each member of the club introduced one new member (Playing) the club would double in size. This seems very straightforward and the solution to all our recruitment problems. In no time at all CRFC would be fielding six or seven side a week! In the past there has not been a structured process to assist members to recruit.
What to do if you think you have identified a new player:-
1) Start the contact with Croydon RFC.
a) Contact me, Brian Attfield, Francis Pecorella, so that an introduction pack can be sent out. This must be done at the earliest opportunity. We will need a name and or postal/ email address.
b) A few basic rugby related details such as age, experience, position etc.
2) Arrange to show them the club.
a) You may wish to do this by yourself.
b) You may wish to do this accompanied by another club member or a committee member, e.g. Brian Attfield, Frances Pecorella, or myself.
c) If you cannot do this make contact with Brian Attfield, Frances Pecorella, or myself to make such an arrangement in your stead.
d) Try and make it for a training night or when there is activity at the club.
3) Register your recruitment efforts with the Recruitment committee.
a) The club needs to keep recruitment processes under constant review.
b) The club wants to recognise individual efforts in this area.
c) A scheme is being devised to reward the best effort at recruitment, of which more later.
4) In a rush?
CRFC recognises that there will be occasions when circumstances mean that the potential new recruit will be asked to make contact with the club themselves. This is not an option we encourage, but as a bare minimum recruiters are:-
a) expected to pass on a contact number and the CRFC website address to the new recruit
b) To inform myself, Francis Pecorella or Brian Attfield as in part 1(a) above
With so many different ways of communicating these days I leave it up to the individual to make the choice. However, it is important to bear in mind that it is best to have some kind of record (Text message, voice mail, email) of what goes on, to avoid misunderstanding and to act as a reminder. Do not forget to include your name and contact details as the recruiter.
